Sessions:

Our WW2 workshop stands out as a unique and unparalleled educational experience, offering exceptional value, hands-on activities, and engaging, age-appropriate presentations. Designed for up to four classes over a full school day, the workshop incorporates both interactive and teacher-led sessions to ensure maximum engagement.

Introduction:
The day begins with an immersive air-raid simulation, complete with a genuine siren and sound effects. This is followed by an introduction to the role of Air Raid Precaution (ARP) Wardens during the Blitz, accompanied by an informative presentation about their vital duties.

ARP Activity:
Children step into the shoes of ARP Wardens by donning black helmets and performing hands-on tasks. They practice putting out fires with an authentic WW2 Stirrup Pump, moving model incendiary bombs with period tools, and using sandbags to extinguish mock fires, all while learning about the challenges wardens faced.

Artefact Investigation:
With access to an extensive collection of WW2 artefacts, children engage in guided exploration using prompt sheets. They play a fun game, Genuine or Reproduction, and then investigate artefacts in small groups, uncovering their stories with the workshop leader’s insights.

First Aid Activity:
Children learn first-aid techniques from the time, including bandaging and moving immobile individuals. They use triangular bandages and even practice with authentic British Army stretchers, gaining a practical understanding of wartime medical care.

WW2 Timeline Presentation:
A comprehensive presentation covers the key events of WW2, helping children understand the conflict’s progression and historical significance.

Final Review:
The day concludes with a reflective review of WW2’s lasting impact. Facts and figures about the war, including casualty numbers from all nations involved, are presented to emphasize the scale and significance of the conflict, leaving a powerful impression on both children and teachers.

This workshop offers a deep and memorable dive into WW2 history, combining education with active participation to bring the era vividly to life.
