The Tudors

Historic Workshop

7

Sessions:

This workshop can accommodate up to 4 classes for a full day (9 AM – 3 PM).

Introduction: Our skilled workshop leader will demonstrate a wide range of medieval weapons, showcasing impressive techniques and expertise. All of our leaders are seasoned medieval reenactors, with countless hours of practice in wielding Tudor weapons. If you book David (King Henry VIII), this introduction will feature a Royal Entrance complete with fanfare, adding an extra touch of grandeur to the experience.

Weapons and Armour Handling: Children will have the opportunity to explore a variety of replica weapons and armour from the Tudor era. This hands-on session is a great chance for them to learn about the weapons used in battle and even take photos while holding some of the most iconic Tudor weaponry, including swords, axes, and shields.

Weapons Drill: In this interactive session, children will be taught how to use Tudor weapons to their full potential. They’ll practice marching in formation, responding to commands, and simulating battle tactics. Will they survive the challenge? If you book David (King Henry VIII), this session will be replaced with Tudor Dancing, as David is a skilled expert in Tudor court dances.

Tudor Board Games: Children will learn to play two popular Tudor-era board games, gaining insight into how people of the time entertained themselves. After learning the rules, they’ll have the opportunity to play the games and experience Tudor leisure firsthand.

Archery: English longbowmen were renowned for their skill and precision. Children will step into their shoes by using modern bows to shoot suction arrows at targets, simulating a Tudor hunting expedition. This session teaches focus, hand-eye coordination, and provides an exciting way to learn about the importance of archery in Tudor society.
